American Addiction Centers (AAC) presents “Far From Finished,” a weekly podcast that shares the real-life stories of people who survived addiction to thrive in recovery. In Part 1 of Episode 32, Arthur talks about growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada, with so much resentment towards his family, especially towards his mother. After the death of his father, Arthur’s life (then 18) took a tailspin. He happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time when he first tried heroin. For a short while Arthur felt like he was in control, but by the time he turned 22, Arthur began to use three grams of heroin a day. Once those close to him knew that he had a problem, he finally agreed to get help. A month and a half clean from treatment Arthur relapsed on the anniversary of his father’s death. Arthur would then proceed onto the worst run of his substance abuse, which would culminate in an unfortunate discovery during another trip to treatment…….
