How LGBTQ Friendly Treatment Changed My Life
American Addiction Centers (AAC) presents “Far From Finished,” a weekly podcast that shares the real-life stories of people who survived addiction to thrive in recovery. In Episode 22, Adrian talks about how his greatest fear concerning entering treatment was whether or not he was going to be accepted and if he would face prejudice because he was gay. Now over a year into his sobriety he can reflect and say that treatment was one of the easiest experiences he has ever had. Adrian has met a lot of people, both gay and straight, in recovery and participating in meetings. He realized it didn’t matter what your sexuality was — “we all have the same disease and we all relate with our addiction.”
