MMA/UFC Fighter Charlie “The Spaniard” Brenneman
Charlie “The Spaniard” Brenneman is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, speaker, mentor and author of Driven: My Unlikely Journey from Classroom to Cage. A former junior high Spanish teacher, The Spaniard left his job to pursue a career in the UFC, and in 2011, he was ranked #7 in the world.
Charlie is not an addict or alcoholic (he’s not even Spanish, and he’ll tell us about that), but his story applies to anyone struggling against any challenge. Addiction recovery is about overcoming self-doubt, fear, and anxiety. It’s also about being accountable for your behavior and being responsible for who you surround yourself with. Charlie says that once you identify your core values, you never lose sight of who you are.
“The Spaniard” talks about how to be your own leader and how to accept “sucking” at something as part of the process to achieving your dreams.
