Addiction Took My Husband, Recovery Saved My Life with Stephanie Pollak – The Shair Podcast Episode 244

You can be angry.

Or you can be at peace.

You can heal.

Or you can continue playing the victim.

It’s up to you to choose the things that make you happy.

No one else is going to do that for you.

It’s up to you to move in the direction of growth and freedom.

Only you can save yourself.

Stephanie Pollak spent most of her life believing the world was supposed to make her happy. If she did the right things, life would be good for her. She spent most of her time and energy-saving others and never considered herself.

After her husband became addicted to opioids, Stephanie couldn’t understand what she was doing wrong. They got married and had a baby, and he still couldn’t stay clean. She was angry, she was hurt, but she never realized that she could be an option.

Eventually, addiction took her husband’s life and she was left alone. But her husband’s addiction did bring a gift—it introduced her to recovery. Stephanie discovered that if she didn’t heal, she’d continue being a victim. She decided to choose herself first, and a whole new world opened up for her.
